Description
Muga Reserve Special Selection
Muga Reserve Special Selection is made by a blend of Tempranillo (70%), Grenache (20%), Mazuelo (7%) and Graciano (3%). The proceeds grape farms mostly chalky soil clay located in the area of La Rioja Alta, at the foot of Montes Obarenses. Because of its geography and guidance they have a peculiar variety of different climates between the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Continental, which make the grape has a long and complex maturation.
To reach the winery the grapes go through a selection process, discarding those we bunches not satisfying the required quality.
Fermentation takes place in oak tanks with native yeast from the vineyard itself. Muga Special Selection Reserve makes a 26-month aging in oak barrels. A somewhat special barrel, as Bodegas Muga is one of the few wineries that today continue to have a cooperage in their own facilities and continue building their barrels.
