Remember the film Pale Rider, where Clint Eastwood plays a gunslinger turned preached? Well, Benjamín Romeo, owner of Bodegas Contador fell in love with the movie, and decided to make a wine in its honour. Predicador (aka The Preacher in Spanish) is a spectacular Rioja. Red fruit, tight acidity and lush tannins. This is a special occasion wine. But — listen up — this wine isn’t quite ready to drink yet. This is one you want to treasure and pop in a nice cool and dry place and then open up in a couple of years on a special occasion… all guns blazing!

Description

Predicador is made from Tempranillo and Garnacha pinch. The grapes come from vineyards between 20 and 35 years, from 12 different plots.

The vineyards are worked organically and sustainably, organic matter is used for fertilizing the land, and treatment of the vine is done only when absolutely necessary and no waste products. The harvest is done entirely by hand in small boxes of 14 kg. After harvesting the grapes are transported to the winery in a maximum of half an hour to prevent oxidation. To prepare Predicador, after careful stripping, the fermented grape frustoconical and stainless steel at a temperature of 19-24º C for 7-10 days deposits. Finally, after vinification, Preacher goes aged for 15 months in French oak barrels of 1 wine.

Alcohol content: 14.5% vol.

Serving temperature: 16º C.

Pairing: Civet, grilled red meat, big game hunting, semi-hard cheeses and sheep.
